Rajasthani Theme Party, Romance of the sand dunes:

A land rich in colour and scenic contrasts, Rajasthan is at its most spectacular during its fair and festivals; chief among them is the annual exotic desert festivals held on the rippled dunes of Jaisalmer.

The guests are greeted by caparisoned elephants accompanied by special music - 'Melody Queens of the Desert'. Next to them are traditionally attired belles, who shower petals and apply tilaks (a ritualistic dot) to the forehead of the distinguished guests. The setting is elaborately conceived and executed to create a replica of a fort (in which a 'Dancing and Dunes' programme is presented), a village (consisting of several thatch and bamboo abodes plus the food and drink stalls) and a colourful bazaar (market place) of handicrafts with artisans at work.

The entertainment consists of kachi ghodi and dhamal (boisterous dummy horse dancers and singers), behrupias (animal impersonators), udanwala (magical levitators), jugglers, bhopa-bhopi, langas (minstrels and balladeers), kathputli (puppeteers), monkey and bear tamasha (a fun act), a parrot astrologer, and a large variety of colourful folk dances of Rajasthan such as Bhavai, Tera Tali, Ghoomar, Keer, Phagwa, Peacock and many more. The entertainment is arranged in such a way that the effect is multiculural.

The food is integral to the theme. The waiters, chefs and other service staff wear churidar pyjamas, achkan, jodhpuri headgear and juti (elaborate, intricately embroidered shoes).

The spectacular grand finale culminates in an impressive firework display where all the artists form a caravan (procession) where guests are also requested to participate.
